Student Welfare
At Chobham Academy, we are committed to ensuring that every student is known as an individual. It is important to us that all students feel they are recognised and paid attention. We also understand that, during the course of their career at Chobham, many of our students will encounter challenges in their lives which necessitate additional support at school. We are committed to providing this support in as comprehensive and personalised manner as possible.
We address issues surrounding student well-being in the following ways:
- Excellent relationships between students and staff where students feel able to share difficulties and seek support.
- A tutor group and year group system which builds secure small communities whitin the Academy. In these environments, students feel safer and more able to seek the support of peers and staff.
- Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) delivered by tutors and through our regular Innovation Days.
- A student counselling service.
- A dedicated safeguarding team.

Attendance
At Chobham we recognise the importance of good attendance. Research shows that regular attendance is a key contributor to academic sucess as well as preparing young people for the world of work.
We encourage students not to take a day off school unless it is absolutely necessary. We also seek the active support of parents in making sure their children are in school every day. Our whole Academy attendance target for 2018-19 is 96%.
If a child is absent we expect parents to contact the Academy before 8.30am on each day of absence.
